Maryland Newborn Photographer | The Welch’s
DC Lifestyle Photography with The Welch Family
I’m quite a new Maryland newborn photographer, but I think I’ve found another calling. Carolyn and Patrick just brought home their beautiful baby girl last week, and it was an absolute joy meeting her! We took our time, taking breaks when need be, and getting to catch up with them was a treat in this time of isolation.
Carolyn and Patrick had their maternity session back in the fall, when leaves were just at the end of their colorful season. I immediately felt at ease with them, and we had fun exploring a bamboo forest by the water. You can check their session out here!
Both of them are the kind of folks that you just feel like you’ve instantly met a friend. Truly one of the best parts of this job is meeting new people!
In between finding various pockets of window light, feeding, changing, and rearranging furniture, we got to talking. Carolyn mentioned how crazy it is to look back at photos, knowing that this tiny life is IN the photos with you. You can’t picture them yet, their face or demeanor, but they are there. I told her I think it’s why I’ve become so drawn to maternity photography. You’re taking photos of more than two people, and the potential for this little personality is so vast! It’s a wonder, I’ll tell ya.

I’m lucky in that my mom had photo albums for each one of us kids. Some photos overlapped while others were specific to our births. There are so many photos of my mom and dad holding, changing, and rocking me. I am so eternally grateful for those images. Though they were professional quality, they were taken out of love and that comes across. As a kid, I would pour over my album over and over again as if new images would appear. I like to think that Madeleine will do the same!
Enjoy the photos below! Oh, and spy the Texas bluebonnets swaddle, too!
