Winter Maternity Shoot | Kaylin + Justin

Kaylin & Justin’s winter maternity shoot gave us the perfect opportunity to try out a few very different locations!

Kaylin and I met in college as theatre majors. And yes, we were and still are incredibly proud of our weirdness. We had many a good time those few years, and most notably was a spaghetti night. You see, the house I lived in was the “theatre house”. Be afraid, be very afraid. On the weekends (heck, weeknights too), our house had a bit of an open door policy for theatre and arts majors. One weekend we had a big spaghetti night, where an especially skilled 20 year old taught us the ways of adding sugar to make something salty and vice versa. It was an eye opening culinary experience for many of us who lived off us chips, mountain dew, and the italian bistro in town.

But I digress. Fast forward ten years and Kaylin her husband, Justin, are expecting their first child! I’m seriously so excited for them. And selfishly, I’m excited because it reconnected us, and that’s a gift these days.

Winter Maternity Shoot Couple

Kaylin and Justin live in Washington DC, and are a couple you want to know because they care deeply, and know how to laugh deeply. Kaylin has often said things that spark conversation and encourages me to dig deeper into the world I work and live in. That alone gives me respect for her. Their child is one lucky kid! 🙂

Settin’ the Scene

Ok, so about our winter maternity session! We started in a new studio downtown called PhotoMAB. Our switch was so last minute, but I’m so freaking grateful it was! I met the owner, Mel, who’s an incredible model and artist herself, as well as got to play with the windows and afternoon light. We had fun, I do believe.

Then we took to the streets of Downtown Frederick, where we captured photos near City Hall, in front of greenery and among the scattered historic-homes-turned-offices. Kaylin looks like a ding dang model. I mean LOOK AT HER.
