In this Kenwood cherry blossoms session, we celebrated Dereselign and Birhanie waiting on the arrival of their son into the world! To say they were glowing is an understatement. It was important to them that we capture a bit of sunset, and a bit of flowers in this spring session! Spring is such a wondrous time of newness for all, and it’s a feast for a photographer’s lens.

You know how calling people is apparently the rare thing to do nowadays? Like, I’ve heard multiple friends of mine claim that they get angry when people call them directly. Let me repeat that, “young people” (yes, I know, who do I think I am?) don’t use the telephone much anymore. All this to say, it’s refreshing when I get phone calls from potential clients. It feels real, and it feels like an actual connection. I think that’s why I always try and ask couples and individuals to hop on video chats with me after making contact. It just makes a world of difference to actually connect with a person on a human level. Also, I find it incredibly important for you to know if we’re a good fit!

I digress for a second time. D and Birhanie and I connected immediately, and that’s just a thing I am very grateful for!

Kenwood Cherry Blossoms

We decided on Kenwood neighborhood in Bethesda, Maryland, which is also known as Kenwood “Cherry Blossom” neighborhood. And after being there, I truly understand why. The streets are lined with trees, and the day after they bloom, “no parking” signs are put up and policemen patrol the streets. I think it’s a little much on the police department’s part, being that they are cherry blossom trees. But, I am grateful that we didn’t have to fight with too many cars in photos!

We began roaming the neighborhood streets and ended at the local trail park, finding several majestic trees and blossoms to make our scenic backdrop. It was an intimate and perfect sunset evening to capture their love and incoming new love.
