Jenny & Rich’s Firefighter Engagement Photos at Middletown Overlook
Firefighter engagement photos were a first for me, and I hope not the last. I have such immense respect for everything they do, and it’s been a gift meeting several firefighters this year.
Jenny and I met at the YMCA this year. In the midst of a pandemic, we both found ourselves working in-person at the Y. We’d chat every Tuesday, weaving our way through various topics of conversation and sometimes you just know you’re of like mind. One day we got to the topic of weddings, and I told her I was a photographer. She just so happened to be expecting a proposal in the next few months, so we obviously veered our talkative themes a’thataway.
When Rich proposed on December 19th of this past year, he chose the beautiful Carroll Creek in Downtown Frederick, Maryland. Now, I’m not sure if you’ve ever stepped downtown in Frederick around the holidays, but let me just tell you that it is MAGICAL. They went out for an evening stroll looking at all of the boats, and that’s where he proposed! Her parents had come into town and everything, so it was pretty special.

Jenny and Rich have been together since 2015, and recently moved to Maryland. I have a special kind of respect for couples who moved here at the start of the pandemic, because they have yet to truly experience the area and meet people. Luckily, Rich has his firefighter community, and he serves in Frederick. We obviously had to incorporate this integral and meaningful part of their lives into their engagement photos!
I cannot wait for their wedding this upcoming fall, to happen in Northern Pennsylvania. Of course the first thing I thought of was “The Office”. I’m positive this will be entirely separate, but being near Scranton still makes me super excited.
They plan to have little doughnuts at the cocktail bar and an antique firetruck, and it’s going to be a party to remember.
The love these two share for one another is apparent, and what a joy it is to see people finding their person, and someone how feels like home.
