Harper’s Ferry Maternity in the Snow with Maryland Maternity Photographer

I honestly just wish I could post all of the photos from Marissa & Tucker’s session without going overboard. As a Maryland maternity photographer, I get giddy searching for new locations and trying new things to keep each session creative! But, I’ll try and contain myself, I promise.
Harper’s Ferry Maternity Photoshoot
Marissa and Tucker are becoming first time parents, and it’s probably my favorite session yet. The reason being we’ve all been friends since high school, and known each other for 18 years. Not only witnessing my friends become parents, but getting to document it is one of many joys I didn’t think about when becoming a photographer. I was honored that they asked me, and I can’t wait for all my friends to have kids! I’ve designated myself as the cool aunt, whether they like it or not. 🙂
We were all friends back in high school, but Marissa and Tucker didn’t start dating until after, getting married a few years ago, and currently living in Frederick. They are devoted to their families, inspirational leaders to their church youth, and just kind people all around! Kind is the best word I find to describe them, and it’s so simple and so true. They offer the friends and young people around them a calm space to be themselves, and I always feel at ease in their presence.

When Marissa came to me about planning a session, I knew we needed to find a timeless place to capture their images. I knew that sunset was important, so we were a little disappointed when the forecast looked cloudy, but since there was snow on the ground it all evened out.
I knew I wanted to find a time to photograph in Harper’s Ferry, and when I ran it by them, they were all in! Through a series of travel blogs, I stumbled across the ruins at St. John’s Church, and was sold. I will say, there are quite a many stairs, so be warned!
Maternity in the Snow
When we got there, we found perfect open spots, not a ton of people, and no wind. A true winner in terms of photoshoots. And then, y’all, the sky opened up and we got a sunset! It was so amazing. I was able to capture the sunset photos they wanted, and they got goofy along the way. Oh, and scroll to the end for a surprise!
