A CoVid Tale

Roxanne had reached out to me over the summer, as she and Mario were planning their intimate wedding. Unfortunately, as life often does, it had other plans and they had to postpone their day of union until health-related matters cleared up.

When she finally got clearance, it was a quick wedding turnaround time, and friends and family came together to make it happen. We phone tagged back and forth and got her details ready in 3 days. Yes, you heard that correctly…3 days. Oh, the wonders of an intimate wedding!

Kings Contrivance Restaurant

Held at Kings Contrivance Restaurant in Columbia, Maryland, just outside Baltimore, her intimate wedding began. A tent was lifted, socially distant chairs were placed, and a gorgeous cake from Edibles Incredible! was brought in.

Roxanne and Mario met at a coffee shop, and among their many bonds is faith. It was important to both of them that they incorporate their pastors from both the United States and Senegal. Both men prayed over them with the congregation joining in as witnesses. Not many of Roxanne’s family members were able to make the trip, but it was incredibly special having the ones that could! Oh, and we cannot forget the flower girl! I was a flower girl so many times as a kid, and it’s the most thrilling job as a child. She is so adorable and took on the job effortlessly.

The other thing that strikes me about Roxanne and Mario is their gentleness and intentionality. Even if they were nervous, they never showed it. They’re the type of people that encounter each moment softly, take it in, make sure to hold each other’s hand and such. They took time before and after the ceremony to breathe and be in each other’s presence. I truly believe that is such an important part of the wedding day!

The wind was at our backs, but the sun peeped out from the clouds, creating a glorious afternoon and evening to celebrate. With flowers in full bloom, it was a perfect afternoon! Check it out below 🙂
