DC Headshots with Miss Kitty Lelynx
DC Headshots with Actor Miss Kitty in Downtown Bethesda, for a combined look of greenery and city.
Headshots should first and foremost be a representation of YOU. I know it sounds super obvious, but believe it or not that part gets overlooked sometimes. When we think about photos, we think glamour and getting our hair and make-up done. And that is all good and well (and I suggest professional make-up services because they know how to highlight your features naturally!), but you never want to go overboard. If it doesn’t look like you, it ends up being a little confusing when the person you’re reaching sees you in person for the first time.
Miss Kitty and I met on a contract for a DC theatre production, and I was immediately blown away by her work ethic. She was swinging several roles, which means that you could go on at anytime for a myriad of characters, so you learn every track in its entirety and have to keep it fresh daily. When the time came for her to step into these roles, she needed minimal guidance, and that is literally the best possible thing ever. Not only does she put in the work, but she is incredibly kind. Things can get high stress in the theatre world, and we’ve all worked in scenarios where people are on edge when a last minute change happens. All to say–she’s kickass to work with. SOOO, I was thrilled to get to capture her headshots.
Power Colors
Colors, when choosing outfits, are a big deal. You want it to match the energy you plan on bringing into a room full of people. This goes across the board, whether for acting or selling a house. People want a feel for you they’re about to meet before ever meeting you. Miss Kitty’s motto is “Live in fierce”, so red was a given. And then for a more formal look, some black. And finally, purple, which just speaks calm and graceful to me.
When searching for DC Headshots, especially for actors, there’s a lot of options. Mine lean toward the earthier, with a mixture of green and structural backdrops, and always naturally lit.
Above all, I want this to be a fun and empowering experience for you. No need to rush, we’ll take our time, and play around with outfits and posing. It’s a grand time, if I do say so myself 🙂
