SWVA Photography | The Griffin’s
It’s fall on the farm for the Griffin’s! Check out their SWVA photography session when I visited a few months back!
The Griffin family members have many titles. They are entrepreneurs, artists, culinary experts, teachers, farmers, and cultivators. Bradley and Kady have two incredible little girls, and it was an absolute treat spending this sunset evening with them for fall family photos!
We all met when I lived in Abingdon, working for the Barter Theatre. We ran in the same farmer’s market crowd (I know, very funny), and hung out with the same local community. There’s an incredible web of farmers and artists down that way. To be honest, I often miss the small town feel of living there and seeing friends *literally* everywhere you go. Some people may hate that, but I adored it.
Kady and Bradley also own Sara Jean’s Eatery in Glade Spring, Virginia. If you ever get a chance to, CHECK them out. It is some of the most delicious country cooking you’ll eat, with wild combinations that unexpectedly work perfectly.
For their fall family session, the Griffin’s decided on their home property, since it gets gorgeous sunsets and has chickens. I mean, who doesn’t love chickens? The activities are built in at their home for the kids, which is key for family sessions to last more than fifteen minutes. (I’ll write a blog on that soon, too!)
We started at the front of the house, roaming around the back to the chicken coop and making our way up to the old barn. It just sits there these days, but wow did it do a lot for us. The sun perfectly shines through the wooden slats, and created an ethereal look on their daughter when she walked up to it. Just shooketh to my core I was by the whimsical nature of it all!
We ended playing on the grass and watching the sunset. Their oldest was incredibly fascinated by my car when I first pulled up that day, and would occasionally ask me to say the name “Subaru” again. By the end of the session (still in a wonderful mood I might add) she asked in her most polite voice “is it time for you to go home now?”. Haha! She wanted to get to bedtime, and asked in the best way she could. It was amazing.
Enjoy the Griffin’s SWVA photography session, and head to the blog for more fall family recaps!
