When asked if dogs are allowed at newborn photography shoots, you will be greeted by a resounding YES. Mia was born during quarantine (which is going to be a thing kids talk about in 20 years), and this was their first outing from the house. It was a last minute schedule, as they wanted a newborn photoshoot to capture her in her first few weeks, and what a joy it was. So inquisitive, without much fussing, but rather looking everything and everyone over.
We decided on Rock Creek Regional Park for our newborn photography adventure, with its vast trails and open space. You know the kind of sunset light that pours out from behind a cloudy sky? Yeah, it was that kind of light, that illuminates and creates a golden glow that is just THE BEST. She wasn’t too keen on having a wardrobe change at such late notice, with a bow added at the last moment, but she eventually accepted how freaking adorable she looked and all was well. Hey, even if she’s not a bow gal later on, it at least kept her ears nice and warm. 🙂
Kona kept vying for the camera’s attention, even pulling over the stroller at one point, so we eventually let her in on the paparazzi action. I think she’s a natural, how about you?
We strolled and adventured, stopping for some poses along the way, and it was a beautiful time away from the indoors, getting a breath of fresh air and capturing this fleeting time together. I feel like I say “fleeting” a lot when talking about pictures of kids and animals, but it is SO true. Quarantine has been tough, but at the same time, given so many people a little more time with family than they might have otherwise had. There are so many hardships right now, but a positive is this: moments to be present and moments to create tangible memories that you’ll cherish waaaaay down the road. Grateful to be here & to be a part of it <3
